Logan Street Market opening this summer at former warehouse
A former candy and tobacco warehouse will open in July as a multifunction destination that will include fresh food.
The old Axton Candy and Tobacco Warehouse will open as the Logan Street Market in the Shelby Park neighborhood of Louisville. According to the Market’s director, Sarah Height:
The Logan Street Market will feature a farmer’s market – open all year, along with 30 vendors and four independent restaurants as well as a space for private events and an entertainment stage. Among the venders at the $2m project will be Bourbon Barrel Foods, Colonel De Spices, Wiltshire Pantry and Safai Coffee.
Participants in a farmer’s market often operate with a minimum of office equipment or supplies, but one item they and many vendors cannot do without is business cards to hand out to customers.
The Logan Street Market has openings for a couple more permanent vendors and is still seeking a few additional corporate founding sponsors to launch the project. The decision was made to expand on the original plans with a gallery, a built out kitchen, and a farmers’ plaza, which explains why the project did not open in October as planned – more funding was needed.
Fresh food among other products should be available to the Shelby Park Community at the Logan Street Market beginning in July.

“It's one of a kind to this neighborhood but also to the region.”
