What's Happening in Louisville, KY…

Kroger garners anchor position in new development

A southern Louisville development will include a new Kroger store, along with a variety of accommodation.

The $250m new development will include within its 122,000 square foot Kroger store a Little Clinic, pharmacy, and liquor store, as well as several gas pumps. In addition to the Kroger store, there will be room for as many as six other retail businesses or restaurants. Once the whole project is completed, the businesses will be joined by 50 single-family lots, 184 townhomes, and 288 apartments.

Banner printing services are often used to supply construction site signage while work is underway.

The lot where the new development will be located is at 6803 Beulah Church Road, which is presently mostly covered in trees. According to the developer, Pat Madden, approximately 20% of the trees will be left to provide shade and a natural barrier. To account for the expected heavier traffic, Madden explained that roadway changes would have to made as well.

Jeff Hudson, a metro council member, stressed his opinion that his constituents should view this new development as a good thing, saying:

“… once the family that owned this decided to sell, something was going to be developed here, and what we have is the best option.”

Developers hope to break ground by the end of August, with the area to house Kroger being the first priority. If everything goes according to schedule, Kroger will be able to begin operations in October 2025.
