Ironman pushed back a couple of months
The 2015 Louisville Ironman Triathlon, previously held in August, is moving to October in 2015, it has been confirmed.
The date shifts allows the athletes a more comfortable environment rather than the hot, humid summer months. The cooler temperatures will, organizers hope, provide better race conditions and an overall more enjoyable experience.
The triathlon route uses a downtown area for the finish line, with the path winding past the University of Louisville, Churchill Downs, and La Grange. A 2.4-mile swim, 26.2-mile run, and 112-mile bike ride is part of the event. The day begins with the swim competition.
Also, 50 age group slots for the 2016 Ironman World Championship taking place in Hawaii will be offered. The Ironman Triathlon is slated to continue in Louisville through 2019 at this time.
The triathlon has attracted over 16,000 participants, generating approximately $30m in economic revenues in Louisville. Athletes and spectators often arrive early and stay after the event, utilizing the services of local hotels and restaurants.
Banners are used at athletic events to serve as signage for the participants. Directional information and symbols can be printed on the heavy vinyl used for banner printing. They can then be mounted high in the air between two pillars or poles for all to see.
The 2015 Ironman Louisville will take place on October 11, 2015. More information is available via the website.
