What's Happening in Louisville, KY…

First Lego store in Bluegrass State to open in November

Toy enthusiasts of all ages will be pleased to know that Louisville will soon have its own Lego Brand Store.

The newest addition to Oxmoor Center, a Lego store will move into what had been the Coach store. Lindsay Kahn, spokeswoman for Oxmoor expressed the mall’s enthusiasm for its newest tenant. Calling Lego an “iconic brand”, she said it would make an excellent addition to mall’s mix of tenants.

Kahn explained that Lego would join several other recent additions to Oxmoor, which include Brook Brothers, Bath & Body Works, Untuckit, Kendra Scott, and Lolli & Pops. A banner printing service is often employed when a company opens in a new location.

Kentucky’s first Lego store will save area residents from have to make the drive to Indianapolis, Cincinnati, or Nashville, which are currently the closest Lego stores to Louisville.

The Danish toy maker has posted positions on Indeed.com for a ‘Retail Assistant Store Manager’ and ‘Brick Specialist’ for its upcoming location at Oxmoor Center.

The U.S. is Lego’s largest market and getting larger every day. North America already has close to a hundred Lego stores, and this November, in addition to a Louisville store, the company will also open stores in Metairie, Louisiana; Greenville, South Carolina; and Albany, New York.

A Legoland theme park will soon open in New York at a cost of $350m and will require around 30 million Lego bricks.
