What's Happening in Louisville, KY…

Convention center in Louisville re-opens

It took two years but the Kentucky International Convention Center’s renovations are now finished and the center is now open for business.

In addition to the renovations another 50,000 square feet was added to the facility for exhibit space at a cost of $207 million. The Convention Center is now over 900,000 square feet, in which 52 meeting rooms are included, and will provide part-time and full-time jobs for 150 workers.

Recently a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the reopening of the renovated facility was held. Attended by some state and local leaders, the president and CEO of Kentucky Venues, David Beck, was reported by WLKY as saying:

"We want to provide jobs, and we want to help be part of the economic engine in the community to generate jobs and enhance our economy.”

Through 2024, the facility has already contracted with 112 events; plus, 84 convention groups have booked the Center, bringing a projected $246 million economic impact. According to Don Parker, Tourism, Arts and Heritage cabinet secretary, the center’s events will pull in additional tourists to boost the state’s economy.

Local printing companies should see an increase in sales as conventions, trade shows and the like have a variety of needs for printed items such as business cards, posters and promotional products. Often businesses would rather access the print products they need at their destination or they may run out and need more.
