Changes to Louisville Marathon include virtual option
The Louisville Marathon and shorter assorted races will take place live with a few minor adjustments to ensure everyone’s safety in light of the pandemic, not least the option of running a virtual race of one's choice.
Individual runners for each race will be starting at different times so as to maintain social distancing among the runners. Participants will have the opportunity to select their exact start time closer to the date of the race.
This year’s event will not feature any mass gathering and staff and volunteers will be utilizing gloves and masks at all times. In an effort to keep touchpoints to a minimum, registration will be conducted online and packet pickup will take place prior to the event or by mail. Water and snacks available along the course will be individually bottled or wrapped.
Organizers frequently use banner printing services to build excitement about their event.
Any of the three events can be run virtually. The participant may choose their own course and a time and date between now and race day, which is November 8.
Those registering for the live event should do so soon, as the event could sell out. Charges for the live event will not be put on the individual’s credit card until two weeks prior to the event. Virtual runners will have their cards charged when they register.
