Brown-Forman to expand Louisville Distillery
Louisville-based Brown-Forman has revealed expansion plans for its distillery in Louisville, which include an oak tree nursery for a long-term oak tree sustainability study.
The expansion, which will result in twice the number of fermenters while increasing mash cookers and still capacity, is expected to take over two years. The facility will remain fully operational as the $95m expansion doubles its capacity.
Print shops are often called upon to supply printed materials associated with new hires when companies enlarge and need to increase personnel.
Other changes will be in the systems associated with grain handling and by-products, as well as modernizing the workplace and changing traffic flow on-site to improve safety. Additionally, a green space will be created for the white oak tree nursery.
Brown-Forman is one of the White Oak Initiative’s founding members, the goal of which was to guarantee the long-term sustainability of the white oak in the US.
The Department of Forestry and Natural Resources at the University of Kentucky will be partnering with the company in establishing the inaugural urban white oak seedling institution and genetic study. Later this spring, the Brown-Forman nursery’s first acorns will be planted.
Brown-Forman has been approved for up to $5m in tax incentives per the Kentucky Reinvestment Act. This permits the company to retain a portion of its investment throughout the term of the agreement via wage assessment and corporate income tax credits, so long as certain targets are met.
