Belle of Louisville to hold spinetingling Ghost Cruise
At the end of October, the Belle of Louisville will be hosting two Ghost Cruises, one for the whole family and another limited to those 21 and older.
The city’s historic steam-powered paddlewheel boat will temporarily take on the identity of the Idlewild, a ship raided by the sheriff’s department in 1947 that resulted in the ship’s captain, Captain Winters, immediately suffering a heart attack and dying.
Passengers will appear to enter a time loop that takes them back to those events that transpired on October 31, 1947. While aboard the “Idlewild,” guests will come face-to-face with ghosts as they explore the haunted ship.
Other activities for guests to indulge in include card games in the captain’s honor, taking part in crafts and concessions, having a tarot card reading, and trick-or-treating around the boat.

The first Ghost Cruise will take place from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm on October 29 and will be a family-oriented event designed to be less scary than the later adult-geared cruise.
The evening cruise takes place from 8:00 pm to 10:00 pm that same day and is only for those 21 years old and over. The adult Ghost Cruise will have heightened spookiness and will also include a cash bar.
