Art in Lou pilot program announced
Louisville Tourism and Fund for the Arts have recently announced that they have joined forces to create the “Art in Lou” pilot project.
Through November 2019, artists, otherwise known as buskers, will be provided with paid opportunities by Art in Lou to entertain the community by performing in public spaces. The Funds for the Arts will be curating the performances. Support provided by Louisville Tourism is making the program possible.
Art in Lou will, in accordance with Imagine Greater Louisville 2020: An Arts and Cultural Vision to Transform the Region, create art opportunities and events throughout the community. Applications will be accepted from artists in the Greater Louisville area. Performances will not be restricted to music; applicants practicing any art form are welcome.
Poster printing is one of the best ways to get the word out about new city or county programs.
CEO and president of Louisville Tourism, Karen Williams, explained her group’s position on the new program by saying that the arts and culture sector have a critical economic role to play in bringing people into the community, whether for pleasure or business.
Art in Lou is a way to show-off the city’s arts and culture sector by showcasing the talent, energy, creativity, and character of Louisville to residents and visitors alike. Artists may submit their application from now until November 15 and are encouraged to select specific dates and locations, and include them on their applications.
