Amazon to provide Louisville job boost

E-retail giant Amazon recently announced that Louisville and Shepherdsville are each slated to be future delivery station sites, creating full-time jobs for hundreds of area residents.

Delivery stations are the last step in the company’s order fulfillment process. Amazon sortation and fulfillment centers send packages to delivery stations, from which they are loaded into vehicles for customer delivery.

Amazon spokesperson Andre Woodson said:

“These new delivery stations represent Amazon’s unwavering commitment to safety, technological innovations and skilled teams who are obsessed with delivering for our customers.”

The Louisville delivery station will be at 1231 Durrett Lane and is expected to open in 2022. The Shepherdsville facility should be opening sometime this year at 3208 E Blue Lick Road. Delivery station pay, according to the press release, will start at $15 per hour.

Frequently, banner printing services are employed so those passing by construction sites can know what business is coming.

The two new delivery stations will give Amazon Logistics’ a total of four such facilities in the Bluegrass State; one is already here in Louisville and there is one in Lexington. Per the press release issued by Amazon, the company has over 250 delivery stations across the country.

Over 18,000 full and part-time jobs have been created by Amazon in Kentucky. Additionally, including infrastructure and compensation, the company has invested over $15bn across the state.
