What's Happening in Louisville, KY…

Adults 25 and up may be eligible for free tuition at JCTC

A new program, funded by a Jump-Start Grant, will enable Jefferson Community and Technical College (JCTC) to offer adults 25 and over free tuition.

In order to qualify for the grant applicants must be first-time students in 2021-22 and be eligible for federal financial aid. To renew for the spring semester grant recipients will have had to maintain a GPA of 2.O. The program will be accessible to residents in 10 Kentucky counties of which Jefferson is one.

According to a release from JCTC, the percent of adult or non-traditional students has dropped off significantly. Jefferson Community and Technical College President Dr. Ty Handy said in the release:

“We know that in the Louisville market, there are many unfilled jobs that require some level of college education; and yet financially, so many Louisvillians aren't able to get their education started to work toward these jobs."

Many institutions find a banner printing service to be invaluable in relaying an important message.

Additional requirements and restrictions include: Visiting students are ineligible as are non-degree seeking students and only those who are new to Jefferson either by being a transfer or a freshman are eligible. Moreover, the student has to be enrolled in at least six credit hours and eligibility extends to only the courses required.

The Jefferson Jump-Start Grant is only for the Fall 2021 and the following Spring semesters. Applications are being accepted now.
