Whether they grow for fun or profit, London’s fruit tree growers may want to make sure they attend a pair of classes that will give them practical skills they may be able to use.
The Laurel County Extension Office is hosting a day that will be dedicated to teaching apple and stone fruit grafting and pruning techniques. Steve Mobley and other presenters will share their knowledge during these in person events, and the learning will be hands-on. During the grafting workshop, the attendees will learn how to graft scions such as shoots or buds to a rootstock, which can result in improved plant strength and health. The guest “grafter" will be Stacy White, and apple and pear rootstocks may be purchased in advance.
The pruning class is scheduled for the afternoon, and as with the grafting workshop, it will be focused on fruit trees. Everyone will learn how, when and where to make their cuts to improve overall flower and fruit production and revitalize an old tree.
Whether it's for work or pleasure, people may appreciate the opportunity to learn something new, and a workshop or class gives them the chance to do so. Distributing promotional Pens paired with Notepads will make it easy for attendees in an activity to jot down any points they wish to keep.
This day dedicated to fruit tree health is scheduled for March 12th. More details about the start times for the classes, the venues and how to register can be found on the Laurel County Extension Office website.
