Thanks to Colonel Sanders, chickens and Kentucky are forever linked. The annual World Chicken Festival, held in London, recently celebrated its 25th year with a great crowd, great weather and a number of entertainment options and contests.
One of the organizers of the festival, Rodney Hendrickson, told the Sentinel-Echo that "good weather always makes a difference" and this was something they had on the day.
This year, around 150,000 people attended the four-day festival, which took place the last weekend in September. Highlights of the festival included contests, such as a karaoke showdown and a hot wing eating competition.
Food was also a hit during the event. In an effort to help area not-for-profit groups, organizers of the Chicken Festival only let nonprofits set up and sell food during the event. The groups that do sell food earn a large portion of their funding for the year during the festival.
Although the 2014 festival has only just wrapped up, Hendrickson and his fellow organizers are making plans for next year already. The planners can use local Print companies to help spread the word to people in London and beyond and to get non-profits to register for food booths for next year's event.
Music is also a big hit at the festival. This year's event featured three stages, with the main stage, dubbed the Stage of Stars and drawing the biggest crowds.Get a Free Quote for Print
