Sweltering weather did not keep the crowds away from the annual Labor Day yard sale in London, Kentucky.
Traffic Signs were hung, warning people that traffic would be moving slowly along Route 80 for about 20 miles. Thousands of people turned out for the massive yard sale, which stretched 20 miles down the road and lasted from Thursday through Saturday. The sale was scheduled to continue on Sunday, but downpours caused it to be canceled.
The sale featured an assortment of items from people's homes, including clothing and collectible items. Food vendors also set up shop, as did the local Asher's Market, which provided both air conditioning and ice cream to overheated shoppers.
Both shoppers and sellers alike reported great success at this year's sale. Kynna Cass told the Sentinel Echo that she found a number of things at the sale, including doll-sized furniture and clothing. Christy Lunsford was a vendor for the first time this year, after years of shopping at it. She told the paper that she was eager to take part again next year, after her family sold homegrown pumpkins at this year's yard sale.
To build on successful events, organizers often use poster printing to get the word out even more or to recommend alternate travel routes to drivers not interested in pulling over and browsing.Get a Free Quote for Signs
