Local library to host events for youth and adults
Next week, the Villa Park Public Library will be hosting several events that may be of interest to those in nearby Oakbrook Terrace.
The first will be Girls Who Code, which is part of a series of events on this subject. Aimed at high school girls, they will learn computational thinking and computer skills through team building, discussions, and hands-on activities. Such programs often reach out to local print shops to print any accompanying materials. This will be in the Youth Services Program Room from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm next Wednesday, September 25.
There will also be Bark for Books, which is part of the animal and reading programs. This event is for youth ranging in age from pre-school and kindergarten through middle and high school. During this event, attendees will read stories to a dog from a book they have selected to read ahead of time. The dogs in the program are trained to be gentle listeners. This event will be in the Youth Services Program Room from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, also on Wednesday, September 25.
Finally, Basic Backyard Chicken Keeping will be for adults and is part of the animals and home and garden programs. This workshop is for those who are thinking about raising chickens, as well as for those who are already doing so. This will be in the Ohrman Room A and B from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Thursday, September 26.
