Illinois company to offer new dredging vessel

Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Corporation in Oak Brook has been awarded a large contract to build its Trailing Suction Hopper Dredge, which has a capacity of 6,500 cubic yards.

This new vessel is a complement to its Ellis Island model, which has a capacity of 15,000 cubic yards, and its ATB Tug Douglas B. Mackie, both of which are part of its Hopper Fleet of six-dredges. Residents of Oakbrook Terrace may benefit from this new contract.

Chief Executive Officer and President of Great Lakes, Lasse Petterson, said that the company continues to invest in its fleet of dredging vessels as it is the leader in the industry of such vessels and services in the United States. Petterson added that this new vessel, which is highly automated, will meet certain needs in the market of offshore wind and increase the company’s capabilities in the maintenance and protection of coastal areas. More details about such products are often provided with brochure printing.

Conrad Shipyard of Morgan City, Louisiana has been contracted to construct the new vessel. The in-house engineering department at Great Lakes will create a regulatory-level design while Conrad Shipyard will perform the detailed design and build the vessel at its location in Amelia, Louisiana.

The new vessel has an expected delivery date of the first quarter of 2023.
