Students lend a hand to business community
Students from INCubaterdu at McHenry High School unveiled plans for apps and devices to assist businesses.
The students are set up in five teams that are in the process of perfecting their projects, which they presented at the end of the last school semester. The ideas were pitched to business leaders who gave the feedback that was then incorporated into the designs. One of their inventions is a device that extends the length of a school desk. Another of their innovations is an application that makes it easier for busy people to get dressed in the morning.
The other projects being worked on include an app for friendship, a device that makes it easier to control car doors, and a service for specific cars. Programs such as this one are often featured on brochure printing to help with marketing. When talking about his students at McHenry High School, INCubatoredu teacher Tim Kirk mentioned that:
The final pitches will be made on May 4. The winning team will be selected to take part in a countrywide event that will be hosted by McHenry County College towards the end of May. The countrywide event is a new idea and it will have teams coming from more 11 high schools in McHenry County. The idea for this event was born during a conference for INCubateredu instructors held last summer.
