Fundraiser pairs kayaks and fun in McHenry
McHenry residents looking for an opportunity to support a good cause and enjoy fun in the sun are in for a treat, as a unique kayaking experience is set to take off.
The DamYak Challenge 2025 has an official date in the books for next month, continuing the annual tradition in McHenry to raise money for The Break Crystal Lake Teen Center. The event will take place on the Fox River and has a mission of promoting the natural beauty of the river and the surrounding settings while encouraging a healthy and active lifestyle through kayaking.
The McHenry Challenge will use a 4.8-mile course that embarks from downtown McHenry and takes participants on a fun kayaking spree. The challenge is sponsored by several local businesses, including Clean Bee Cleaning and Restoration, Brunch Cafe, Athletico Physical Therapy, and The Courtyard at McHenry.
Banner printing is a memorable way to welcome participants to the finish line while promoting the event’s sponsors to increase visibility. Individuals who do not own a kayak can rent one from OPS Experiences for $32. The event will be held rain or shine, and attendees are encouraged to dress for the weather.
Participants will meet at 1202 Riverside Drive in McHenry at 6:30 AM on Saturday, July 19th. Registration is available online, and reservations cost $39.19 per person.
