Community art event adds color to McHenrys riverwalk

The McHenry community will be coming together for an annual festival that is all about adding colorful art to a local walkway, and residents are invited to make their mark.

The 2nd Annual Riverwalk Chalkwalk Fest is coming to McHenry this August, allowing local creatives and residents to compete in an artistic competition, with winners receiving cash prizes. Organizers are aiming to make this year’s gathering about more than sidewalk chalk art, with local musicians and bands providing the experience’s background soundtrack.

Local violinist group 4 Strings Attached is among the musical groups booked to play at this year’s community celebration, with its performance scheduled for 11:00 AM. Visitors will find several food trucks along the Riverwalk where they can purchase light bites and beverages between creating masterpieces and touring the event site. Poster printing offers an efficient and affordable way to spread information and excitement about community events like this.

The live music will begin after 4 Strings Attached’s set concludes. Organizers are also seeking local businesses that want to help sponsor this year’s Chalkwalk Fest, giving them a way to make bonds and cultivate a positive image in the community.

Artists and visitors will converge on Miller Point Park in McHenry at 10:00 AM on Sunday, August 30. Visitors can attend for free, and sponsors can contact the McHenry Riverwalk to register.
