McHenry 5K opens registration to area runners

Runners in the McHenry area will want to check their Calendars and start stretching, as a summer 5K run is on the schedule.

The McHenry Lakefront 5K has an official date and start time while also opening online registration to runners who wish to challenge themselves and enjoy quality time outdoors. The annual run is open to everyone whether they wish to walk, jog, or run the course.

Organizers have also planned a Kids’ Fun Run. Children from three to five years old will run a 50-meter course, while those from six to eight years old are able to run a 100-meter course. The adult course is chip-timed, with awards going to the top male and female finisher. Those who finish first through third in each age bracket will also receive awards. Promotional Products are a cost-effective way to generate impressions and build goodwill with participants and attendees at such events.

The 5K course will leave Petersen Park Beach and follow along the Prairie Trail before proceeding into the Lakeland Park neighborhood. It should offer ample shade while providing a flat course.

The race will begin at McHenry’s Petersen Park at 7:30 AM on Saturday, July 11. Interested runners can reserve their spots online for $25 for adults and $12 for kids. Bibs and T-Shirts can be picked up the Friday before, or on the day of the race.
