Youth drag racing event offers fun competition near McHenry

Children with an affinity for Power Wheels might find themselves interested in a drag racing event is being planned near McHenry.

The Midwest Powerwheels Drag Racing event will begin welcoming participants and spectators next month for a one-of-a-kind racing event for children. The race, open to participants from 3 to 14 years of age, will allow drivers to test their Power Wheels vehicles across four different classes. The vehicles are battery-powered, ride-on toy cars for children.

Interested children can register in the Stock, Outlaw, Modified, and Chain-Driven classes when signing up to compete in the drag races. No modifications are allowed for Power Wheels vehicles enrolled in the Stock class beyond traction applications to the tires, including Tape. Banner printing is an exciting way to welcome racers to the finish line at such events while providing brand visibility for event sponsors.

Modified enrollees may change the battery and motors, but not the gearbox. All participating vehicles will also be entered into the Best in Show competition. All racers must be three or older and wear closed-toe shoes and helmets. A parent or guardian must attend with the racer, and all vehicles will be inspected.

The races will be held at 3535 N. Richmond Road in nearby Johnsburg on Saturday, April 26th. Check-in will start at noon, and registration is open online for $5 per racer.
