McHenry teacher shortlisted for award

A teacher from McHenry High School named Otto Corzo has been shortlisted for a prestigious teaching award.

Corzo has been teaching at McHenry High School for six years. Before that, he taught at Warren Township High School. The people at McHenry High School have become accustomed to seeing him teaching salsa to students in the hallways. He also took an active role in making sure that his students received school supplies when the pandemic kept them at home. Promotional pens could be handed out as donations to schools.

Jeff Prickett, the principal at McHenry High School, has stated how the kids respond well to Corzo’s energy. Pricket also said:

“When I think of Otto Corzo, I think of the word mentor. He’s someone who influences lives, not just the kids, but their families as well. Parents gush over him. They cry when they think about the above and beyond he’s done for their kids.”
