The College of Lake County is running a recruitment drive for students who will have their entire tuition fully paid for during the college’s fourth round of the Transform Lake County Program.
The money to cover these tuition fees comes from a $700,000 grant called the Workforce Equity Initiative Grant from the Illinois Community College Board. The grant was created with the goal of expanding the number of equitable training opportunities available to minority students who live in at-risk communities. Students who complete the course will be eligible for full-time employment opportunities that pay about 30% more than the region’s living wage. Brochure printing can be used to promote educational programs and scholarship opportunities in cases like this.
The program’s stated goal is to improve equity within Lake County by providing no-cost education to those who need it the most. Maria Castrejon, a beneficiary of the grant money, commented to DailyHearald.com that the free tuition opportunity was a big surprise to her, but her successful application puts her closer to achieving her dream.
The scholarship program is open to students in locations all over Lake County, including Libertyville. The scholarship will cover all tuition fees, course materials, and any exam fees. Students will also get a stipend to cover the costs of living and have free access to workshops. Applications can be made here.
