Local workshop pushes human body to the limits

Jesse Coomer is going on a tour where he teaches people how to use the Wim Hof Method.

This is a technique that allows the body to withstand extreme conditions. Coomer is from the first generation of students to have learnt directly from Wim Hof himself. The three main aspects of the technique Coomer will be teaching are commitment, cold exposure, and controlled breathing.

The setup for this workshop allows each individual to receive enough personal attention and tailored feedback. The Wim Hof Method can be used to improve physical and mental performance, relieve the symptoms caused be some illnesses, or just so that a person can learn how to deal with being in a frozen lake. Print shops can be visited to help with promoting events.

Including Coomer, there are only 27 certified trainers of the Wim Hof Method in the country. Once the workshop is complete, patrons will be sent home with a daily practice to adopt if they want to continue training. A part of the lecture is dedicated towards a lecture on the theory behind the method, but most of it is a practical session. Taking an ice bath is optional.

The workshop will be held at the SPEAR Training Center in Vernon Hills, a few miles south of Libertyville. It starts at 11:00 am on May 14.
