The Force comes to local museum

Star Wars lovers can attend a special event at the Joliet Area Historical Museum. Admission is free.

The 6th Annual Star Wars Day will kick off with a parade that will start in front of the museum and head down a few local streets. Costumed ‘Star Wars’ characters will walk in the parade. In addition, the Joliet American Legion Band will play songs from the movie series.

Inside the museum in the Caterpillar auditorium, there will be special activities such as a ‘Cryonics Demonstration’ and a ‘lightsaber duel’ demonstration. Kids, between the ages of 2 and 14, will be given a pass. When they participate in themed games, they can collect Star Wars cards and also be entered in the raffle for prizes. Games include bowling and a scavenger hunt.

Outside of the museum, Clinton Street will be sectioned off from traffic. Here, there will be vendors selling goods and food. In addition, there will be an opportunity for attendees to take photos with the Star Wars costumed characters.

To inform the community about this event, it is likely a flyer printing service was asked to make handouts to distribute in and around the museum.

The fun will take place on June 6 from 11:00 am until 4:00 pm and the Joliet Area Historical Museum, located on 204 North Ottawa Street. For more information, call 815-723-5201.
