The culmination of Lockport’s Great Midwestern Ballyhoo will be held in a couple of weeks. This finale will be the Steampunk Weekend that will end with High Tea.
No doubt of interest to those in nearby Joliet, the weekend will feature food vendors and pop-up shopping. The sideshow entertainment will include Doc Barth’s Natural Remedies Traveling Medicine Show and a juggling show. Libido, Steam Powered Giraffe, and Candy Town will be performing at the Music Fest, perhaps offering merchandise and Promotional Products. A special guest for the fest will be Thomas Willeford from TV’s Steampunk’d, and a costume contest will be part of the evening’s festivities.
The VIP Gala will include dinner, special seating for the performances, and mingling with the performers and other celebrities.
The Lockport Oolong Protectorate Society will be hosting its annual High Tea, which will offer a variety of teas from around the world. A harpist will add to the ambience, as will the displays of textiles from around the globe.
Taking place on September 24 and 25, the festival is free and will open at 10:00 am on Saturday and 11:00 am on Sunday. The Music Fest will require tickets and will start at 4:00pm on the 24th. High Tea begins at 1:00 pm on Sunday. All events will be at the Embers Tap House and Social Club, 933 S. State Street in Lockport.
