The New Year will be ushering in snow, and that means it will soon be time for the Joliet Nordic Ski Race.
The event will have three races: a 12K Adult race, a 4K Junior Race, and a 4K Adult Fun Run (classic and skate).
The course will be over rolling terrain and ready for both skating and diagonal if the snow cooperates. The race will be a mass start. Three laps will be the course for the 12K Adult Race, and one lap will be for the 4K Junior Race (for children 14 years old and under) and for the Adult Run Race.
Awards will be presented in each class to those coming in first, second, and third place. Male and female classifications will be according to age. Classic Race awards, on the other hand, will be given only to the overall female and male winners. All participants in the fun runs will receive a medal.
There will be a 50/50 Split the Pot Raffle. Spectators may want to bring Banners to support their favorite skiers.
The race is scheduled for Sunday, January 8 at the Woodruff Golf Course, 621 N. Gougar Road, Joliet beginning at 10:00 am. All three activities will start at that time. The awards ceremony will start at 11:30 am. Check in will begin at 7:00 am and continue until 9:30 am.
