Locals storm down campus race course

Residents in Romeoville, and nearby Joliet, can take part in several fun races.

The ‘Tri-County Barnstormers Crosscountry 5K and 10K’ will take place on a closed, cross country course at Lewis University Campus. This year’s theme is ‘The Year of the Drones’. There will also be a kids’ one mile superhero fun run.

After the races, participants can enjoy food and entertainment. In addition, awards will be given to the top male and female finishers overall, along with the top three male and female finishers in each age group.

Registration costs $45 for the 5K and $50 for the 10K. Youth participants will receive a $10 discount. Registration for the one-mile fun run costs $30 and includes a shirt and Halloween goodies.

Registration and packet pickup will be held tomorrow, October 23, from noon until 8:00 pm and on Saturday from 10:00 am until 6:00 pm at the Sports Authority store, located on 2700 Plainfield Road in Joliet.

A newsletter printing service has likely aided in spreading the word about the race. A monthly newsletter with upcoming events may have been sent out to university students.

Both races will kick off at 9:00 am this Sunday, October 25. Race day registration will take place from 7:30 am until 8:45 am in the University flyer pavilion.

Lewis University is located on One University Drive.
