Joliet residents of all ages and abilities can get some exercise while supporting a good cause in a couple of weeks.
The Fourth Annual Theresa Lang Memorial 5K run and walk will take participants on a scenic route through trails in Joliet and Crest Hill.
The chip-timed race is a Chicago Area Runners Association certified event. Jogging strollers and pets are not allowed.
Awards will be handed out to the top overall male and female finishers, along with the top three male and female participants in each age group. It is likely a Stationery printing service was asked to create awards using heavy paper.
Registration costs $30 for individuals and $100 for a team of four. Online registration ends on August 5.
Packet pickup will be held on August 6 and August 7 from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm at TM Martial Arts, located at 3480 Caton Farm Road.
Locals should be ready to exercise on August 8 at 8:00 am. Race day registration and packet pickup will take place from 6:00 am until 7:00 am. The race begins and ends at Cemeno's Pizza, located on 1630 Essington Road. Parking is available in the establishment’s northwest lot.
Net proceeds from the event will go to help the Wounded Warrior Project, a charity organization that helps and empowers injured service members and their families.
