Local theater to present Sound of Music Interactive

For those who enjoy musicals, especially The Sound of Music, a local theater will be presenting an evening of the Von Trap saga. However, for this event, the audience will have an active role.

Guests are invited to dress up in period costumes, objects, or songs and participate in a parade before the screening. There will be first, second, and third prizes for the winners.

Along with coming in costumes, attendees will want to bring props. Some of these may include cloth, a flashlight, plastic flowers, whistle, Captain Crunch Cereal, prompt cards, and champagne party poppers. These are only suggestions, so those who wish to attend will want to be creative. During the show everyone can shout out, use their props, and sing along, since lyrics in subtitles will be provided.

Before the parade, guests will be invited to the pre-movie reception. Photo ops will be available, so everyone will want to pose for pictures for later poster printing. Desserts will be for sale. A $10 'Baroness” package' (which may be purchased before the event for $5) will include an assortment of cheeses and a beverage.

The evening will happen on September 9 at the Rialto Square Theater, 102 Chicago Street, Joliet. It will start at 5:30 pm with the reception and the movie will begin at 7:00 pm.
