Joliet workshop brings attention to birds

Birds can add extra life, color, and movement to a garden, and a Joliet event will aim to help those who would like to attract feathered friends to their homes.

Good Steward Ecoscapes has scheduled a morning session that will feature a talk by the company’s owner, Andrew Hedman. He will explore ways to attract wild birds to a property, and a discussion on how to utilize native plants will be at the forefront of his slot.

The presentation will explain why choosing native plant species can provide food, shelter, and places for wild birds to raise families, and Hedman will share his top picks for the local area. The attendees can ask the session leader questions, and there is no admission fee being charged to attend. Both newbie and experienced home horticulturists may benefit from the workshop, and anyone who is interested has been asked to call 815-744-3800 to reserve their seat.

Winter is a time when gardeners often take advantage of any available learning opportunities so that they can get ready for the spring months ahead. Copies of presentation notes and other learning materials for an event like this can be ordered from area Stationery printers.

Good Steward Ecoscapes will be exploring ways of bringing birds back into the human landscape on Saturday, February 24, with the activity set to begin at 11:00am. The venue is located at 1149 Essington Road in Joliet.
