Joliet winter dyeing workshop to transform textiles

The Joliet Park District offers residents lots of ways to keep active and have fun, and one of its offerings will see kids and their parents get crafty.

While many may be familiar with typical tie-dyeing, they may not know that it is possible to incorporate snow into the process. This project will introduce the participants to this textile coloring technique, and the function is set to be held at the Pilcher Park Nature Center.

The facilitator for the activity will walk the attendees through the steps of crafting their project, and everyone who Signs up will need to bring along an item they wish to dye. It is suggested these be made from cotton, and while they work, they will be invited to relax and warm up by the bonfire and sip on a cup of hot chocolate.

Taking part in hands-on class both teaches kids new skills and encourages them to explore their world, and can include handouts and other learning materials for them to take home along with them. Stationery printers will be happy to provide a full line of printing, copying and design services for a wide range of events.

The Tie Dye With Snow crafting class will be held outdoors on January 21. It will begin at 12:00 pm, and tickets are $7 per person.
