To enjoy an evening of Old European traditional holiday music and opulent feasting, everyone is invited to the Joliet Drama Guild’s Fourth Annual Madrigal Dinner.
Singers, jugglers, instrumentalists, magicians, and fencers will entertain guests before, during, and after they feast.
Those who opt for the dinner will be feasting on roast turkey, gravy, glazed ham, specially prepared potatoes, baby carrots, fresh fruit salad, along with drinks and rolls. Diners will also receive wassail for the evening’s toast, which is a traditional warm punch made of apple juice and cranberries laced with cinnamon. Dessert will be a holiday-style bread pudding.
Pauper seating will be available for those who do not wish to buy a dinner but still want to soak up the ambiance of the event. These ticket holders will get to hear the Madrigal minstrels and see the plays and the musical, which will be presented after the meal.
Guests will probably want to bring a camera to capture it all, especially those shots of the children’s reactions to the entertainers who will be interacting with them during the event. Pictures of the evening can be made into interesting Holiday Cards, if not in time for this year then definitely for next.
This gala is scheduled for 7:00 pm this Friday and Saturday, and then again Sunday at 1:00 pm at the Billie Limacher Bicentennial Park’s theater. Dinner tickets are RSVP only, but pauper seats can be purchased at the door.
