Joliet pays tribute to Johnny Cash

This February in Joliet, audiences will have the chance to journey back in history for the Folsom Prison Experience.

The production will Offer a vivid retelling of Johnny Cash's iconic live recording at Folsom Prison. The event will blend music, drama, and audience participation into an unforgettable evening.

Produced by Stephanie Long, the production will showcase the events surrounding Cash’s 1968 prison performance, a moment that marked a turning point in his career. Amid personal struggles and professional challenges, Cash along with his group, the Tennessee 3, decided to take an unconventional approach by recording a live album inside a prison. This decision led to both tension and triumph.

Guests are encouraged to dress in inmate-inspired attire to step into the role of Folsom Prison’s captive audience.

The cast will feature Jay Ernest of the renowned Church of Cash tribute group in the role of Johnny Cash. Joining him are performers Bronson Bergeson, Ryan Maddux, Kat Perkins, Ryan Nelson, Dan Hopman, Tony Wirth Jonathon TeBeest, and Nic Johnson among others.

Tickets for the experience are currently on sale with prices set at $198, $62.50, $52.50, and $42.50, plus applicable fees. Interested participants can purchase tickets through the Ticketmaster listing.

Organizers may use poster printing to get the word out about events such as this one.

The performance date will be February 8th starting at 7:30 pm at the Rialto Square Theatre, 102 North Chicago Steet, Joliet, Illinois. The doors will open at 6:30 pm.
