This Thanksgiving, Joliet will be striving to ensure its less fortunate residents have a hot meal, and the community has been asked to lend a hand.
The crew at P & J Remodelling, Joliet Home Depot, and The Laundry Room will be sponsoring the serving of holiday meals, which will offer a walk-through dinner. It's scheduled to take place at Janey’s Banquet, which is located at 452 North Chicago Street, and will be held in the afternoon.
Those in need will receive plated meals of turkey with green beans, cornbread, mashed potatoes and stuffing, followed by cake for dessert. The food will be served during a three-hour time window, or for as long as supplies last.
In an effort to make sure as many people as possible can enjoy a hot Thanksgiving dinner, the organizers have asked the community to consider making a donation of money, food or another gift in kind. Volunteers are also needed.
Community feeding programs often count on support from their home community. Sponsorship packages that include informational materials prepared by a brochure printing company can be helpful to have on hand when preparing for an event like this.
Dinner for those in need will be served from 1:00pm on November 18. Additional details about the event, as well as contact details for donors and volunteers, can be found on its online listing.
