Joliet kids to learn about butterflies

Youngsters in Joliet who are curious about butterflies will be able to learn all about them in an activity focused on the pretty Flyers.

The crew at Midewin National Tallgrass Prairie (NTP) have created a virtual learning activity that will introduce youngsters to the world of butterflies. It will present facts in a way that is intended to be fun and engaging to younger learners, and advance registration can be completed online.

The activity will explore the life cycle of the winger insects, including how they metamorphosize from a crawling caterpillar to a colorful butterfly. The participants will learn how to attract species that can be found in the local area, with migrating monarchs, mourning cloaks, and other types set to be introduced as well. The online attendees will be encouraged to take what they have learned and head outdoors so they can discover even more.

Virtual events often benefit from the use of real-world marketing materials. A brochure printing company will be pleased to lend a hand, and can provide items at a range of price levels.

The Midewin National Tallgrass Prairie in Wilmington has made plans to offer this virtual learning opportunity on July 21. It will start at 11:00 am, and anyone who would like to sign up can do so by contacting SM.FS.Midewin_RSVP@usda.gov or (815) 423-6370.
