Joliet event offers first step in bus driving career

Residents of Joliet who are interested in finding a new career in the transportation field are invited to sign up for an upcoming informational session.

The team at Pace Bus will be hosting a pre-hire event at Joliet Junior College as part of its Corporate and Community Services program. It will put a spotlight on the process of obtaining a class B commercial driver’s license, and advanced registration is required.

The event will be the first step in becoming a driver, and attendees will have the opportunity to complete the screening process. They will complete their application and assessment questionnaire, with a background check also part of the process. Everyone is asked to provide their valid Illinois Driver’s License as well as a clean Driving Record Abstract/Secretary of State Motor Vehicle Report (MVR), or a DMV. The results of the assessment will be provided and successful candidates will then undergo further screening, with Pace covering the costs for this.

Once they have received the all-clear, future drivers will start their training on July 22. Those who complete this step will then take on an on-the-job practicum lasting six weeks. A brochure printing company will be pleased to prepare application Forms, Letterheads, and other customized business documents for informational sessions.

Joliet Junior College will be partnering with Pace to offer this activity on Wednesday, June 26. It will begin at 6:00 pm sharp at the college’s campus.
