Joliet celebrates historic highway

The 2025 Illinois Route 66 Red Carpet Corridor Festival will take place this May in Joliet.

The event will celebrate the history and culture of the iconic highway with events spanning 15 communities between Joliet and Bloomington. The festival will offer visitors a chance to explore local traditions, entertainment, and attractions along the 100-mile stretch of the historic route.

Each participating town will host unique activities, including live music, craft and antique fairs, motorcycle and car exhibitions, sidewalk sales, and local art showcases. The event will provide an opportunity to experience small-town charm, enjoy regional cuisine, and visit historic landmarks, museums, and independently owned businesses that highlight the nostalgia of Route 66.

Festival-goers can enhance their experience by utilizing the Illinois Route 66 Scenic Byway mobile application, which is available on both the App Store and Google Play. By checking in at the 15 designated locations, those attending will be entered into a prize drawing for a package valued at over $225.

The event is made possible by community volunteers and partnerships with organizations such as the Heritage Corridor Destinations, and the Bloomington-Normal Area Convention and Visitors Bureau. Additional details are available through the event listing.

Poster printing may be used by organizers to provide attendees with information about events such as this one.

The festival will run from 8 am on Saturday, May 3, to 6 pm on Sunday, May 4th. Events will take place along Route 66, with the Joliet Area Historical Museum at 204 North Ottawa Street, Joliet, Illinois, serving as the key location.
