National Library Week in early April celebrates the role libraries play in their communities, and a contest has been planned by the Plainfield Area Public Library will offer an opportunity to join in the festivities.
This Joliet area institution is offering local youth a chance to flex their creative muscles by submitting an entry in a bookmark design contest. Entry Forms may be picked up in person or downloaded.
The kids who participate will be able to design their piece any way they choose, and the ones selected by the judges will be used to produce bookmarks that will be distributed to the public. They will also receive a special prize, and the entries will be grouped by age. This year's theme is “there’s more to the story.” All submissions must be original, it is requested that three-dimensional design elements are avoided, and each person may submit only one design.
Offering youth an opportunity to get involved by hosting a design or other competition can encourage both literacy and community engagement. A printer will be happy to transform the winning designs into an assortment of Promotional Products.
Anyone who is interested in being part of this activity can pick up their entry form in person or download it from the library’s website. They will be accepted from April 3 to 15, and the winner will be announced soon after the competition has closed.
