Locals can experience some thrills and chills while getting some exercise, because Joliet Junior College is hosting a Haunted 5K run and walk in about a month’s time.
The chip-timed, certified course will take participants through the 'haunted' campus. There will also be a one-mile monster dash for kids aged 12 and under. After the races, individuals can stick around for candy, refreshments, and awards.
The top male and female finishers will be awarded a $100 cash prize, along with tombstone awards. In addition, the top male and female finishers in each age group will get a plaque. The second and third place male and female finishers in each age group will be given a medal.
Flyer printing is an easy way to promote the race around a college campus. Event organizers can pass out Flyers to students in high-traffic areas.
Registration costs $30 for the 5K or $20 for students and alumni. After October 18, the price increases to $35. The kids’ Monster Dash costs $10 and includes a goody bag and a medal. The first 300 to register will be given a winter hat.
The 5K race kicks off on October 25 at 9:00 am. Race day registration and packet pickup begins at 7:00 am and the Monster dash starts at 8:30 am.
