Frankfort to hold celebration for Earth and Arbor Day

The village of Frankfort will be holding an Earth Day and Arbor Day celebration later this month.

Village officials are encouraging residents to join in cleaning up the community. All participants will be provided with garbage Bags, gloves, and a free T-shirt. These items and supplies will be available for pickup on the morning of the celebration on West Nebraska Street between 8:00 and 9:00 am.

There are several designated areas throughout the community that require clean-up. These include Breidert Green, the Lakeview Estates Park and Butternut Park areas, Old Plank Trail, and around the pond near The Creamery. Flyer printing can be used to provide more details for volunteers on specific areas that require clean-up.

Volunteers will also be able to win a gift card to local businesses. They need to look for any unusual or large items. A gift card will be awarded to a volunteer from both age groups – adults and under-16s – for the strangest item collected, the largest item collected, and the dirtiest volunteer. The person who collects the most trash Bags, of all of which must be full, will receive a gift card worth $100.

A lunch for volunteers will be served at 11:30 am offering free pizza and cookies at the Utilities/Public Works Facility.

The celebration will take place on Saturday, April 22.
