Frankfort receives award for road project
The Southwest Branch Public Works Project of the Year in the category of transportation by the American Public Works Association (APWA) has been awarded to the village of Frankfort for the Pfeiffer Road Extension Project. This award is for projects that cost under $5 million.
Outstanding achievements in public works infrastructure as well as promoting excellence in administration, management, and teamwork are recognized by the APWA Public Works Project of the Year award. Announcements of such awards can be made known throughout a community with flyer printing.
An amount of $1.7 million from the Rebuild Illinois Funds, a grant of $750,000 from the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity, and money from the village funded the $3.75 million project. The project extended a roadway cross-section of two lanes with a landscaped median, added new sidewalks, expanded a multi-use path, and added new street lighting and a 12-inch water main. The intersection of US Route 30 and Pfeiffer Road received modernized traffic signals. The project was undertaken as a partnership between Austin-Tyler Construction, Inc., Robinson Engineering Ltd., and the Village of Frankfort.
Mayor Keith Ogle expressed his honor on behalf of the village in receiving this award. He also expressed his gratitude to the construction and engineering partners and the public works team for their contribution to this achievement.
