Frankfort club to hold winter coat drive

A winter coat drive is currently underway, being held by the Frankfort Lions Club.

Coats need to be either in a like-new wearable condition or gently used. They will then be donated to local families and organizations, which will include St. Vincent DePaul Society, Day Break Shelter, The Salvation Army, and the Frankfort VFW. Banner printing is often used to promote such charitable opportunities throughout a town or region. Monetary donations will also be accepted for the purchase of new coats. These can be made payable to Frankfort Lions Charities and sent to the organization.

The Frankfort Lions Club is a volunteer organization of those dedicated to serving the community. The Lions are part of a larger global organization of 46,000 clubs with 1.35 million members in 210 countries around the world.

Among the services in which the Lions are involved are the collection of used prescription eyeglasses to enable the vision-impaired to have sight. They have also held free vision screenings at the Frankfort Park District Senior Days. The Lions support schools by offering scholarships to students at Lincoln Way East High School and Lincoln Way North High School in Frankfort.

Coats can be dropped off at the Frankfort Public Library in the box near the main entrance, or at the Founders Center on Oak Street until Sunday, December 20.
