Budget for Frankfort allows for major village improvements

A new budget has been created for Frankfort for the 2022-2023 fiscal year.

The budget shows revenues for the village of just over $23m, an increase of about $3.5m from the previous year, and a surplus of $4.7m, part of which will go towards the Capital Development Fund of the village. More details on such budgets are often provided for the residents with brochure printing.

It is planned that $7m will be spent on resurfacing the roads in the village. Keith Ogle, mayor of Frankfort, said that by resurfacing the roads now, it will save Frankfort in future road rebuilding projects, which typically costs one-and-a-half to two times what the costs for resurfacing are.

Another $3.9m is for extending Pfeiffer Road from U.S. Route 30 to Colorado Avenue. This will create an area for development that could range from new recreational space to new businesses and housing. The Central Route 30 Corridor will be created along Route 30.

The new Elsner Tower well and iron removal facility will also be improved and funds will be allocated for sewer system improvements, as well as the replacement of water mains and lead service lines. The 20-year-old computer system of the village will also be updated and will enable residents to apply for permits, search public records, pay for bills, and provide access to many other tools.
