Walk for health in Edwardsville
An upcoming walk will link Edwardsville with communities throughout the country who are walking to end Alzheimer’s.
The Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's® is held nationwide and is the largest such event on earth. It is designed to raise awareness, and to also raise funds for research into the condition, and to provide support and care to sufferers. Every year, the Walk takes place in about 600 communities across the United States.
The event could not succeed without the help of Walk day volunteers, who help set up the event, handle check in and registration, man the water stations, and advocate for the cause.
There is no fee to join in the Walk, but everyone is encouraged to use the event to raise funds to support research into the disease, and ways to treat it, prevent it, and ultimately cure it. There are three simple steps anyone can take to join the Walk: first, find a Walk in their area and register as a team member, team captain, or individual. Second, start raising funds and spreading information about the event. The Walk to End Alzheimer’s organization can provide coaching on how to raise funds. Finally, the individual should join their Walk.
The venue for the Edwardsville Walk is the Gardens at SIUE on Arboretum Lane, where banner printing can be used to create course markers for an outdoor event like this. The date is September 12, from 10.00 am until 5.00 pm.
