Truckin' to the show in Edwardsville
A band is on the way to Edwardsville to bring back some of the biggest hits in music history.
Jake's Leg is a cover band that plays music from one of the biggest groups ever, the legendary Grateful Dead. Deadheads throughout the local area know about Jake's Leg, since they have been together for over 40 years, playing in local venues from tiny bars to Busch Stadium.
The group was the brainchild of vocalists and guitarists Tim Fahy and Randy Furrer, who got together in the 1970s. They were soon joined by guitarist Dave Casper, and in 1990, Joe Trunko came along to play bass, followed the next year by Bill Noltkamper on keyboards. Although there have been lineup changes along the way, most of the original members are still together, making Jake's Leg one of the country's longest-lasting groups.
Jake's Leg does not attempt to recreate a Dead performance. Instead, they each bring their own talent and interpretation to the music. Their shows, of course, are drawn mainly from the Dead's extensive catalog, but they also improvise in extended jams, much the same way the Grateful Dead did over 40 years ago.
Jake's Leg will be at the Wildey Theatre in Edwardsville on January 9, 2021, at 8:00 pm. This performance was scheduled to take place earlier, and tickets have been transferred automatically to the new date. Poster printing can be used to provide advertising for this type of event.
