Steaks raised with new Edwardsville store

Hansen's Meat Company, a local shop with locations in Alton and Jerseyville, opened its third shop in Edwardsville recently.

The store is on Century Drive, next to the Cup bakery, and near Wang Gang's restaurant, according to an article in the Intelligencer.

The owner of Hansen's, Beth Hansen-Arrowsmith, said she wanted to be part of the booming Glen Carbon and Edwardsville markets, and found the perfect location. In addition to offering the same products as in the other two stores, she has also brought the company’s meat cutter, Mike Berdeyen, to Edwardsville, along with its homemade kabobs and brats.

Hansen-Arrowsmith notes there is one big difference between the new store in Edwardsville and the others: the Edwardsville store will have a liquor license, so it can sell wine and beer as well as meat. This will make Hansen's a ‘one-stop shop’, she says, adding patrons can get their meat and drink at Hansen's, then get a cupcake from the bakery next door.

Owners of other small businesses in the area have dropped in to wish Hansen-Arrowsmith well, and she says she is grateful for the welcome, as well as the fact Edwardsville itself supports the business.

Stores like this can benefit work with a flyer printing company to put together a handout. If specials are included, new customers might decide to try the shop.
