SIUE to host college fair
The campus of the Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) will be the site of the upcoming Illinois Regional College Fair (IRCF), which will be held in the Morris University Center.
The event will give students and their parents, the chance to talk to representatives from over 90 colleges, both in Illinois and out-of-state, about their academic offerings and other programs.
Financial aid experts will also be there to answer the complex questions about loans, and counselors from local high schools will be on hand to assist students looking for help with options for post-secondary education.
The IRCF takes the place of a number of college fairs that were held at high schools around the area during the year. This single event brings everyone involved together in one place, at one time, to help parties involved in the educational process explore their options.
The Illinois Association for College Admission Counseling (IACAC) sponsors the event, along with SIUE. Todd Burrell, a past president of IACAC and currently director of undergraduate admissions at SIUE, thanked the counselors from the local community colleges and high schools for attending.
The Illinois Regional College Fair is slated for 6:00 until 7.30 pm next Tuesday, October 24.
Events like this offer a lot of information, which can be confusing. Organizers can help by working with a flyer printing company to create a handout listing the participants, and indicating where they are located in the venue.
