Non-profit roundtable to help local organizations attract the media

The Edwardsville/Glen Carbon Chamber of Commerce has announced that it will be hosting a roundtable series that is part of an overall effort to grow and enhance local non-profits.

Four roundtables will be held throughout the year, with the upcoming one dedicated to helping non-profits develop storytelling that gains media attention.

This event – presented by Kerry Smith of Informationworks – will give attendees the chance to learn how to be more effective at garnering positive media coverage. Media coverage is the life blood of any non-profit, and positive media coverage can help increase awareness of a group's mission, ultimately leading to more positive press and increased access to donors. However, in this changing media scene, many non-profits are struggling as they attempt to figure out how to break through and gain a reporter's attention. This event will teach non-profits how to access the media in a more useful and comprehensive way.

As is the case with any in-person Chamber event, members should come with business cards and be prepared to meet other Chamber members, potentially giving them the opportunity to develop fruitful partnerships.

The event is being held on May 10, from 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm, and is free for Chamber members, but costs $19 for guests or non-members. Unlike other Chamber events, this event is being held at Leadership Council Southwestern Illinois office, which is located at 104 Magnolia Drive, Suite B, in Glen Carbon.
