Local chamber to review business books
The Edwardsville/Glen Carbon Chamber of Commerce has kicked off a book club as part of its efforts to bring local business owners together and ensure that they have access to the latest, most up-to-date business information.
The book being reviewed at the September meeting is “Free to Focus” by Michael Hyatt. According to its Amazon listing, Free to Focus is about building a “total productivity system” that encourages users who participate in the system to do “more with less.” It allows users to eliminate interruptions and focus on what really matters in the reader’s work and professional life.
This book club is unique – according to the Edwardsville/Glen Carbon Chamber of Commerce listing, no reading is even required. Instead, Chamber staff prepares for a discussion and gives information on the reading. Event attendees – particularly those who do not have time to actually read the book – can then get the benefit of hearing its main points. This comes in addition to the networking benefits of attending any Chamber events, and members are encouraged to bring business cards and be ready to meet new business contacts.
The event will be held on September 28 from 12:00 to 1:00 PM at the Edwardsville/Glen Chamber Office, which is located at 1 North Research Drive, Edwardsville. Ticket information, including the cost, is available upon registration.
